Metafields can be utilized to tailor the functionality and look of your Shopify store by enabling you to store specific information that is not typically recorded in the Shopify admin. These metafields can serve for internal tracking or to showcase specialized details on your online store in various formats.
You can access these from the Shopify admin by clicking on Custom Data:
As you can see, different entities in your store can have metafields. Let's take Orders, for instance:
In this case, we have two different metafields definitions: "number" and "order_reference".
These are placeholders that can be filled appropriately once an order is created, as you can see below:
This is helpful for monitoring various business processes, such as tracking numbers or references to tax and financial systems.
eCommix - Google Sheets Sync enables you to export not only predefined fields from Shopify, such as tags, notes, products, and total prices, but also the custom fields you have defined for your specific needs.
To export them, go to any dataset and click on Edit Fields. Let's use Orders in this example:
Scroll to the bottom to find the Metafields section:
Now, click on Order Metafields, and simply input the metafield namespace and key values. You can get these values from the Order metafield definitions page in your Shopify Admin:
Copy the namespace and key, and fill in the Order Metafields boxes:
Once your data is exported, your Metafields will be displayed at the end of your Google Sheet:
